Dr. Carl Grushkin

Dr. Carl Grushkin is a member of the Board of Trustees. He is Head of the Nephrology Division at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. Dr. Grushkin also serves as President of the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group (CHLAMG) Board of Directors and a member of its Executive Compliance Committee. He is listed among the Best Doctors in America® and was recognized in Pasadena Magazine’s Top Doctors issue in 2010. Dr. Grushkin received his medical degree from the University of Southern California in 1966. He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, American Society of Pediatric Nephrology and North American Pediatric Transplant Cooperative Study.

Dr. Gary R. Lerner

Gary R. Lerner, M.D., is an attending nephrologist at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine. In this position, he sees patients with all aspects of kidney disease including end-stage renal disease, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, renal transplant & nephrotic syndrome. Dr. Lerner earned his M.D. at USC, Keck School of Medicine and completed his Internship and Residency at Los Angeles County/USC. He also completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at New York Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center. Dr. Lerner’s areas of research include drug usage to aid in the care of patients with chronic kidney disease, including Vitamin D agonist, erythropoietin substitutes and hypertension.

 

Dr. Kevin V. Lemley

Kevin V. Lemley, M.D., Ph.D. is an attending nephrologist at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine. Prior to joining CHLA, Dr. Lemley was a faculty member at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Lemley specializes in glomerular and genetic diseases. Dr. Lemley earned his M.D. and Ph.D. at Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Residency at West Virginia University and Fellowship at Stanford University. Dr. Lemley’s research interest includes podocyte cell biology, stem cell biology and mathematical biology. Research funding has been provided by NIH, American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association.

Dr. Rachel M. Lestz

Rachel M. Lestz, M.D., M.H.S. is an attending nephrologist at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine. In her role, she co-manages the patients in the peritoneal dialysis unit, as well as patients with end-stage renal disease, kidney transplants, chronic kidney disease, hypertension and nephrotic syndrome. Dr. Lestz earned her M.D.at New York Medical College and completed her residency and fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Lestz also earned a Masters of Health Sciences in Clinical Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Lestz’ area of research interest end-stage renal disease clinical outcomes.

 

Dr. Jeffery A. Johnson

Jeffery A. Johnson, M.D., is the Medical Director of Hemodialysis at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. In this position, he oversees the care of patients in the Hemodialysis unit, as well as patients with end-stage renal disease, chronic kidney disease, hypertension & nephrotic syndrome. Dr. Johnson earned his M.D. at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Ohio, and completed his Internship and Residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He also completed a Fellowship at University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Johnson’s area of research include hemodialysis and transplant medicine.
